In a move that will surprise precisely no-one, Valve, the company behind Steam, the popular gaming distribution platform, has joined the Linux Foundation

From OMG! Ubuntu:
By joining the Linux Foundation, a nonprofit organisation which sponsors, supports and promotes the open-source operating system, Valve say they hope to “…contribute tools for developers building new experiences on Linux, compel hardware manufacturers to prioritize support for Linux, and ultimately deliver an elegant and open platform for Linux users.”

Valve’s love for Linux is nothing new. CEO Gabe Newell has previously referred to Linux as ‘the future of gaming’, a belief that is clear to see woven throughout most of the company’s recent announcements.
