modem troubles

evansj
Hey there, I'm looking for some help on installing a modem on Fedora. For some reason it won't auto detect it and when I run kudzu to try and find it my mouse goes nuts and I have to restart. Attempting to add the device using the network settings results in no modem found.

How do I auto activate my modem in Redhat ?

dsnd_medic
I have just installed Redhat 9, the OS see the modem OK, but if I want to go on the Internet, I have to go into the network setup area as administrator and manually set the modem to active. How can I set it up to activate when I start up my browser ? Thanks Andy.

Hi Folks: A little background behind this. . . . I'm running Windows 2000 Professional, with Mozilla Firefox/Thunderbird v1. 0. There is absolutely no trace of IE on my system. I used IE Eradicator to rid of it.

Red Hat, oops, I mean Fedora still sucks...

Anonymous
As you well know, from time to time I post my experiences with different distro installs and testing. I tried Redhat 9. 0 a long time ago and had nvidia and rpm problems. I just tried Fedora Core 3 the other day and nothing has changed.

Hi All, Firstly, NTC doesn't have a general hardware forum, so I posted here. Basically what the subject says; recommendations on a 4 port switch with a wireless access point and ADSL modem. The important thing is that it NEEDS to support local loopback; ie.

I tried to install Fedora Core 2 Server on one of my computers that also runs W2K3 Server. I installed the Fedora to the 3rd partition on the secondary hard drive, bieng that the primary hard drive is dedicated to the 2K3 OS on the primary partition and backups for my other systems on the second partition.

I just wanted to see what everyone thought of Microsoft's legal decision that prevents people from buying Microsoft COA keys. You can check it out at this link. Personally, I feel that Microsoft is going to push its millions of customers into the arms of another lover, er, software manufacturer.

What is more secure, Linux or Windows?

clutch
There is a thread going on at NTComp's sister site that asks the question What is more secure, Linux or Windows?. It appears that I am the only one there offering options for Windows and why it can be very secure.
