Firewall of Choice?

I'm thinking of running my own Linux (of course) based server and I'm looking for a firewall app that will let me block all but select ports (80, 21, 22, 25, etc. ) from all IP addresses. Also, It would be great if that same app could block IP addresses that I specify.

installing Fedora Core 3 on external USB harddrive

Is this possible? How? Some details * laptop running XP home, BIOS does allow booting from USB device. * linux is not installed on the internal harddrive * when trying to install FC3 using boot CD the USB hard drive is not recognized.

Hi Guys I am looking for a LiveCD that fits onto a MiniDisc. . . I am a Linux n00b, so keep it simple. I tried DamnSmall, but it has problems with my NTFS FileSystem. That or it simply doesn't see my HDDs.

Broadcom 802.11G E-machines Wireless under Fedora Core 3?

I have my emachines m5312 laptop setup for dual boot in Win XP and Fedora Core 3. Fedora works great with the wired Broadcom network 10/100 adapter port, but I cannot figure out how to get the wireless 802.

Anyone using WLI2-USB2-G54 with ndiswrapper in Mandrake 10.1

Has anyone been able to make Buffalo Tech WLI2-USB2-G54 USB wireless card work in Mandrake Linux 10. 1? I know how to use the ndiswrapper because I have another wireless card. It is a DLink DWL-650+ pcmicia wireless card and I was able to make it work.

I remember back just before Windows 95 was released, OS/2 was quite intriguing at the time. My uncle and I went out and bought OS/2 Warp version 3. 0, and I was just blown away. Awesome shell interface, it could run DOS games with full sound, tons of program options, it could run Windows 3.

internet problem on Mandriva LE2005

I have just installed LE2005 from Mandrake 10. All went well except that I no longer able to access the internet or e-mail. I have a dial up connection that does connect to my ISP but when I launch any web browser or e-mail program I get nothing, any ideas?.

hello i am trying to write a chat program. I use a server entity to broadcast a message send by an user , to all users. What i want to do is , after someone finished typing a message and hits enter , to make that line dissappear while at the same time allowing normal behavior to the read function.

Problem: Although I have several programs for playing music or audio CDs, they don't work. My sound card works fine. But when I try to look at the files in a music CD using Konqueror, it looks like an empty CD drive.
