Hi guys, This is doing me 'ed in and I have finally got down to asking some questions. I am running FC3 and when I get a new kernel from RedHat using up2date I lose X because I am running the NVidia driver.

I am somewhat new to Linux, although not completely helpless. Anyhow, I have an ATI Radeon X700 (AGP8x) and Slackware running /testing Kernel 2. 6. 10 with the official ATI drivers running. My problem is that OpenGL games run at about 30 spf (seconds per frame.

Hi Ya Guys I'm a total newbie to the Linux community. . . I've formatted my hdd and installed Mandriva 2005 LE, the PowerPack edition, which has 6 CD's and I let the installation find all six of them.

hi all that is my first time to come here but i,m sure that u will help me it my firts time to install knoppix from live knoppix cd in my hard disk but i make boot floppy disk and need it every time i start knoppix but i lost that floppy,,so i see grub screen and can not enter knoppix 3.

Hey everybody. I'm a first time linux user trying to setup a dual boot system between XP Pro and FC3. I originally had XP Pro installed on my main drive (C:), i have a slave on that ide chain, and then I just installed an older 20gb drive I had laying around so I could put FC3 on it (all are ATA interfaces).

GRUB problem again text mode would be easy fix for a linux user

Hey Id just like to thank people again for helping me before and I have been happy with linux for a few days setting up Yum and java and installing programs. But I have entered a problem GRUB is now booting into text mode and since I am a linux newbie I dont know what to do I dont even know how I did it.

I have been using Mandrake(Mandriva) for the past three versions. I am currently using Mandriva 2005LE. I am now preparing to install SUSE 9. 3 Professional, replacing Mandriva, as from what I've read, I can accomplish my goal in an easier manner with SUSE.

Hello, maybe this one is for Wilhelm?? I have tried a few times to install Fedora Core 3 from DVD; here is a summary: 1. The graphic installation method did not work at all well; this is not too surprising since FD3 does not contain the NVidia graphics drivers.

Hi! I just finished installing Mandrake 10. 1 and I restarted and typed in 'startx' hoping to see a nice gui startup. Well, that didn't happen. Instead, I got an error like Fatal Server Error: No screens found.

Not long ago, I ran some live cd's. One was Beatrix, and the other DSL. After running these cd's, I get a message when I log in could not look up internet address for box. This will prevent GNOME from operating correctly.

I have an old Pentium2 350 superdot mbd, with ATI allin wonder pro graphic card 448mb memory - which i want to revive! my other machine is running mandriva 2005 - which i find wonderful - would my old machine run this i'm trying to avoid windows since i converted to linux.

DSL on Lexar Jumpdrive

Hi all! I am attempting to install DSL on a Lexar Jumpdrive. I have run the live cd, went thru the menu to the point of the shell opening, and it asks the location (example sda ). In Fedora, when the Jumpdrive is mounted, it is sdf1, on this system (I looked in the hardware browser).
