Dual Boot FC5 and XP on same disk

Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to install FC5 in an empty partition on a disk where also XP resides. I know FC5 uses GRUB to handle any multibooting but am not sure if this requires FC5 to be installed on a second disk.

Most anyone trying SUSE 10. 1 quickly became aware of update problems. Even YAST must be fixed and the best work-around is to use SMART package manager. You should download and install the SMART packages from GURU, as GURU has already added most of the necessary update channels for you.

I am running SUSE 10. 0 on an old Dell Dimension 4100. I am having trouble with a new sound card I purchased (Creative SoundBlaster SE), which are documented on the hardware forum. Any way, according to ALSA's website, one possible issue maybe the supplied version of ALSA with SUSE 10.

I finally have Evolution set up with bogofilter and spamassassin so that I get no false positives and very few misses. 150 to 200 spams a day with no false positives for 3 weeks or more and only 5 misses.

Simply Mepis and Thinkpad X30 question

I used to run mepis on my insprion 8000 fine with xp but every time I try to boot up the simply mepis cd it gets to a point where it says unable to start filesystem Halting, regardless of what boot choice i chose.

I recieved Ubunta the two pack, (install/live) CD's from a computer builder after I spoke to him about a prevous system crash. I tried to install the program, and it lookes like it did partly, but for some reason it stopped, and I did not know what commad to enter.

hello all, I have Red hat linux installed on my PC. Its the only OS on my PC. I need to Uninstall it. I am a total newbie. PLease anyone cud give me the steps to uninstall it. I tried the Red Hat site, but the steps given are a bit confusing.

Dual Boot Win XP and FC5

I figured out what I was doing wrong on my FC5 installation. I had to go switch around which controllers my hd's were connected to. I can now boot into Win XP normally, however when I boot up FC I get command prompt login.

Senao NL-2511CD plus ext2

I am trying to use the Senao Card NL02511CD plus ext2 with fedora core 5. I see that the hostap drivers are already installed. However when I instert the card my laptop does not see it. What do I need to do to get this card working using Fedora Core 5?.

I have 2 hard drives, both western digital 40 gig each. I have Win XP on drive 1 NTFS. I installed FC 5 into drive 2, I chose Fedora as the default boot. I made sure that grub was installed onto /dev/hda <- at least that's what it said during the installation.

gnome-nettool shows incorrect State of the interface. The eth0 interface is up and I'm able to send and receive the packets. BUT the 'gnome-nettool-1. 4. 1' shows incorrect STATE of the interface. It shows it as 'Inactive'.

hey im running default ubuntu and im brand new to linux. I just downloaded and installed bmp, but when i try to put skins in the skin folder it says i dont have permission, but im the admin. . . (i think) the folder im trying to put it in is /usr/share/bmp/skins what am i doing wrong?.

FC5 format error during install

I am attempting to install FC5 on a one disk machine that already has XP installed on it. I get the error meassage An error ocurred trying to format VolGroup00/LogVo00. This problem is serious and the install cannot continue.
