Well, under Mandriva 2005 it works without doing nothing.
I taught it doesnt work until i check in /mnt/. To my surprise, it was there. Good work!

In Debian, using 2.6 kernel, I just added
/dev/sda1 /cruzer vfat rw,user,noauto,noatime 0 0
to fstab and then ran mount /cruzer and everything worked fine.
Boredguru has some additional pointers if you lack kernel support

I tried all methods to make my sandisk mini cruzer work with fedora core 1 and Mandrake 9.0, I spent 2 days "googling" every possible method I could find on the net to make it work, but I failed. Since Sandisk mini Cruzer is a pretty popular brand, I had no idea it is not linux compatible
Though I did find a couple of places(out of probably 100's of links) where they hinted at its non-compatibleness.
Anyways at the end I went to walmart and bought a Lexar media jump drive and It worked fine at the first time.

Takes over a minute to mount. It undergoes a number of soft resets while doing so. Talking to the usb-storage kernel maintainers led to the conclusion that these are "bad" devices. I can eventually get these to mount and read/write, but I would shy away from these considering they throw errors that shouldn't

It does work but you need to add
/dev/sda1 /mnt/flash auto noauto,rw,users 0 0
to your fstab. Otherwise the kernel goes nuts.
Tested under 2.4 and 2.6 kernels with both USB 1.1 and 2.0 ports. The best results are with USB 2.0 and the 2.6 kernel.
