AMD AM2 Motherboard that works with Linux?
I'm seeking to acquire an AM2 motherboard ATX or mATX (new or used) that Linux will work after install. I have a AMD Athlon 64 x 2 4200 (940 pin) AM2 processor and I'm typically using Linux Mint 5 KDE edition.

So can anyone here recommend such a motherboard(s) that'll work as well as being a reliable one?
I see mostly Intel processor motherboards discussed for Linux use but not AMD all that much if really any at all.
Hope to hear back from someone soon as I'm itching to put together this computer system if viable.
Thanks:)

Are you sure that the processor is a socket 940, or is it a socket 939? If I remember correctly, the 940 is a server processor and will likely cost you more cash for a motherboard and memory, based on system requirements.
I have two AMD systems that are socket 754 (MSI Neo 3H) and one that is 939 (Gigabyte GAMA69VM-s2). They all run fine with the latest versions of Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian, Puppy, Mandriva and SuSE Linux. There is tons out there on AMD motherboards and Linux.

Hi nickt
I using AMD processor that works with Linux
I use VMWare and install CentOS 5.4 as OS image
My PC components :
- AMD Athlon X2 4400+ 940 pin
- Mainboard : J&W JWTA 690G socket AM2
- 2x1GB Ram bus 800
AMD Athlon X2 socket 940 can be compatible with all Linux versions
Because I also test AMD socket 940 with Ubuntu 8.04 , Ubuntu Server and Fedora core
