cdrom woes

This is a discussion about cdrom woes in the Everything Linux category; I was hoping somebody could help me. I can't access my cdrw. I'm running Lycoris 3 and every time I click on auto or mnt the system thinks for a minute, then hangs. If I put a new CD ROM in the drive, it does the same thing.

I was hoping somebody could help me. I can't access my cdrw. I'm running Lycoris 3 and every time I click on "auto" or "mnt" the system thinks for a minute, then hangs. If I put a new CD ROM in the drive, it does the same thing. It also does it when I click on the icon in "My Linux System" Can anyone help? Oh- the device is a Samsung.

It worked when I first installed Lycoris, but then I downloaded the updates using the update wizard. That's when things began to go awry. But the drive may or may not have been working before this, not sure. Can anyone help?
