CDRW max speed not reached

cdwriter does not reach max speed any more x40 only writes at x16 its a 2 min difference. To make it write at x40 dma has to be activated because if not it writes at x16. It is activated but does'nt work anymore.

It is activated but does'nt work anymore. And hdparm gives a strange error.

/dev/hdc:
HDIO_GET_MULTCOUNT failed: Input/output error
IO_support = 0 (default 16-bit)
unmaskirq = 0 (off)
using_dma = 1 (on)
keepsettings = 0 (off)
readonly = 0 (off)
BLKRAGET failed: Input/output error
HDIO_GETGEO failed: Invalid argument

BLKRAGET failed: input/output error WHAT IS THIS????

It used to work fine, beats the s* out of me!

hdparm may just answer all of your problems if you don't have it download it from anywhere like www.freshrpms.net . Look at it's commands and you will find settings to change cdrom drive speeds, dma, multicount settings (should be no more than 16 by the way), and many other wonderful things that you can do to your cdrom and your hard drive to speed up linux and your cd reading/burning.
