creating init

greetings Correct me if im wrong, I want to start an application just after i boot my system. From what i understand i need to add a script to the init so that it will run at start up. . . . How do i do that.

What application are you looking to start on boot and remind me what distro and version of Linux that you are using?

act im doing a embedded linux project. im using red hat linux 9 as my host system asd blue cat linuux 5.0 as my embedded OS. I act want to include " how to boot up an application " for my report. How do i add d codes to the init. example an application like a simple game. can i do that ??
