Hi,

I just bought a wireless USB adapter GIGAFAST WF741-UIC (11Mps) included a driver for Linux.

At first, I dowmloaded and installed the following rpm files:
- kernel-wlan-ng-0.2.1.i686.rpm
- kernel-wlan-ng-usb-0.2.1.i686.rpm
After that I changed /etc/wlan/wlan.conf and /etc/wlan/wlan-linux-wlan to match with my wirelss network ( I use wireless Netgear router MR814).

Then I installed the driver that came with the adapter and reboot my laptop.

It seemed to me that the laptop can detect the USB adatper, but I still can't get online. When I typed iwconfig, I saw the wlan0 interface had been up. I don't know what to do next. Help me please.

I have no experience with usb adapters with Linux. Well..actually some, but all bad, but you might try this. After booting up, try disconnecting the usb cable from your computer, wait a few seconds, reconnect it, and see if i will then find and make a connection. This works when my Orinoco gold card isn't connected on our laptop. It might be worth a try.
Sorry I couldn't help more..

OP
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I still got this errors:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06)
SET failed on device wlan0; Bad address
Error for wireless request "Set Frequence" (8B04)
SET failed on device wlan0; Function not implemented
Error for wireless request "Set Bit Rate" (8B20)
SET failed on device wlan0; Function not implemented
Cannot get driver information : Function not implemented

After completed driver installation, the interface wlan0 is up with my usb wireless adapter MAC address. When I typed #iwconfig, I saw the SSID, but I couldn't see the access point MAC addr. Do you think this might be the problem?

But when I tried #iwconfig wlan0 ap <MAC address>, I got the error like this:

Error for wireless request "Set AP" (8B24)...

I don't know what to do.... please help me... ;(

I just checked the Gigafast website and they list a driver for Linux. I would send them an email, or call them requesting support and give them a link to this thread. If they are going to provide Linux drivers, then they should give you support since you spent your hard earned money for their product. If they won't help you, I would take it back and demand a refund.
