Playing MP games with Linux and Windows...
I'm a newbie, so don't flame me too much on this I was wondering if it is possible to play a multiplayer game such as alpha centauri or halo on a linux os for one player, and have the other player be playing it on a windows system.

You see, I'm probably going to buy a new comp and I'm not sure if I should save $200 by going with Linux over Windows, and I want to be able to play MP games with my friends.

According to Transgaming.com, Halo doesn't work at all under Cedega/Winex. I don't know about the other. Just because a game works in single-player is no guarantee multi-player will work as well.
I've had success getting Alpha Cenaturi to run on linux with the latest CVS from transgaming of their winex/cedega product. ITs also only 15 dollars to try their full software. I don't know about multi-player, but I don't know why it would not work. Microsoft games that require DirectPlay are a problem, as wine and winex have little or no implementation of this. So multi-player Age of Empires II is a no go (me verrrrry sad).
