Hi i am using a Toshiba a60 laptop with mandriva linux installed it works fine except i have no sound, i have done what the other posting said but this still hasnt worked. the sound card is

Vendor: ‎ATI

Description: ‎IXP150/200 AC'97 Audio Controller

Media class: ‎MULTIMEDIA_AUDIO

Connection
Bus: ‎PCI

Bus PCI #: ‎0

PCI device #: ‎20

PCI function #: ‎5

Vendor ID: ‎4098

Device ID: ‎17217

Sub vendor ID: ‎4473

Sub device ID: ‎65296

Driver
Module: ‎snd-atiixp
but this doesnt work i am thinking a conflict because when ' starting up the speakers 'pop' when it initiates the driver but when in linux nothing is working. here is my modprobe.conf file

# This file is autogenerated from /etc/modules.conf using generate-modprobe.conf command

alias eth0 8139too
alias sound-slot-0 snd-atiixp
#remove snd-atiixp /sbin/modprobe -r snd-pcm-oss; /sbin/modprobe --first-time -r --ignore-remove snd-atiixp
install snd-atiixp /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-atiixp && { /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss; /bin/true; }
install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe ohci-hcd; /sbin/modprobe ehci-hcd; /bin/true
alias eth1 eth1394
alias ieee1394-controller ohci1394
alias snd-card-0 snd-atiixp

Please help.
Regards
Cam
