Unused SWAP :-(

This is a discussion about Unused SWAP :-( in the Everything Linux category; I have installed RED HAT 9. 0, and it works fine for a time. . After using some applications my memory decrease so much that my OS isn't working properly any more. . When i boot 'swap' is activated and enabled,but when i type 'free' at a command shell it shows me that swap is using 0MB !!!! I have 513 MB ram and 10 ...

With 512 ram and no swap, you should be running faster than with a swap! That is dependant of course on what type apps you are running.
 
I play Half-Life and it's mods under Winex3, and they run noticably faster when my swap is unmounted. All other of my programs run faster too.
