Linux won't install (Both SuSE and Mandrake)

I've run into problems installing linux. I first tried Mandrake 10. 1 but right after the first screen when you push enter to install it locks up with a blue bar at the top and bottom. The bottom says something like <Alt+F1 for here> and a few other options.

Comands not working.

Hi I've been using Fedora Core 3 for a while now and I've started to notice that some basic UNIX commands don't work. When I've tried using the iptables command from the terminal I get a bash: iptables: command not found error.

Network tools not working

Hi people I was hoping one of you could help me with this problem. I've finally managed to install mplayer and get it working except now all of my Redhat network tools don't work including the automatic updater.

just got brave and set up a dual boot with Fedora and XP. Can't get my printer to work. print configuration doesn't offer my printer as one of its choices. found some websites that offer what to me seems like very complicated steps to get the thing working.

know how to solve about monitor out of range? i only change the resolution to 1028x. . . then i log out of my account. the monitor shows, Input Signal out of range. I have all my projects in the com.

Hi, I would be very greatful if someone helps me out. I am having dual operating system i. e. Linux and Windows XP ,while trying to boot XP it is giving me rootnoverify(hd0,0) chainloader+1 n it is stopping there.

sound config in FC3

I've been playing around with the audio contorls to achieve the perfect sound but have been unsuccessful so far. I keep getting this hollow sound where the singer's voice is really soft when i play my mp3s and i also get a crackly sound when i play some mp3s.

I have downloaded the 9. 2 ftp install but i don't know the ii. p address or the actual ftp server to download from. I currently am running 9. 1 but a friend said to reinstall straight to 9. 2. .

Cant find a way to install Mandrake 10.1

I downloaded the 3CD ISO images for Mandrake v10. 1 off one of the ftp mirrors on the official website, and then I burned all 3 images to CD's. I've tried to boot from the CD but I get an error saying something like it's not a bootable disc.

hello all im new very new to linux and i dont know anything but willing to learn i installed ubuno (something like that)and it didnt work right wouldnt load startx failed so i got back on xp and dled mandrake 3 cds burn the iso great install went smooth until the graphic test i cant see an image so i read some more ...

GRUB loading --- doesn't!

Hi I have(had!) WInXP and Red Hat 9 happily co-existing and dual-booting using GRUB on my first 40 gb hdd; I added 80 GB as second drive and used half of it, still all fine. Installed Fedeora 3 from DVD Iso to 10GB partition of unused space on 80GB drive.

problem in LILO bootloader

I have installed RedHat Linux 9, using LILO as a bootloader. Iam already having windows XP and i have selected to boot windows XP by default. Now when my computer starts it starts windows XP directly without prompting to select OS to boot.

I just saw what NVIDIA has just released a new driver after quite some time and i need to know if ut runs out of the box with FC3 now cos the 6629 release ran into a helluva problems with udev in FC3 and i could never get it working.
