hello frds. . i've dual OS(xp and FC4)in a single HDD. . . i've been workin in both my OS perfectly. . since im doin my project usin PHP/Mysql/apache,i chose the services from the menu. . that is, i enabled my httpd and mysqld services(i didnot install any apache,mysql,php) as it was built in the OS.

XP x64 and Fedora Core 5 x86_64 Dual Boot

I'm a Linux Newbie basically still trying to figure Linux out in general. I graduated from XP Pro to x64 about 4 months ago with basically no issues. Love it. I don't know enough about Linux to know how the systems might react in dual boot.

Help: my reinstall of WinXp killed grub

Hi, I had a working dual-boot of win-xp and fedora core on my winbook. Then xp broke down and had to be reinstalled. I reinstalled xp on it's partition, but then the next time I booted, grub failed to load.

Hello, First off i have never used linux before in my life, i have used all versions of windows from 3. 1 to XP Pro, also DOS, but this Linux sounds good. . . and well isnt microsoft so i wanted to give it a go.

FC5 on Dell 2405FWP & ATI Radeon X850XT PCI-E

Does anyone here run a system with ATI Radeon X850XT PCI-E and Dell 2405FWP plus FC5? I cannot get the installation panel to work. I tried boot: linux resolution=xxxxxx nofb without any luck Also,I cannot get the 'radeon' module to run properly.

After battling with ubuntu, kubuntu and debian (did not like my wireless usb keyboard + ps/2 mouse combo, or something like that), I decided to download and install Fedora Core 5. I downloaded DVD version(so no CD swapping) using bittorrent, burned iso, backed up and rebooted.

Deleting repos and then upgrading

G'day all, I've upgraded to Fedora Core 5 from FC4. It works well except it will not allow any upgrades. I suspect that the FC4 repos are blocking things. How do I clear the old repos and replace them with new ones? (In plain english please; I'm no expect).

Server with cloned Hard Drives [GRUB] ?

Hi Everyone, (My first post) I am running a NIS/NFS file server for a small company. The OS (FC4) and all the users home areas are on the same 120G sata HD sda on different partitions. I made an exact clone of the first hard drive (sda) onto a new drive (sdb) and it worked fine.

Mandrake 10 v newbie installation question...

Hi, I have the Mandrake 4 CD installation set. I have successfully installed, partitioned etc from CD 1. My question is what are the other 3 CDs for?! Im guessing they have more software on ? -but how do I go about installing and using it? Oh, I have a very old PC -pentium 2 400mhz.

Grub doesn't kick in after installing linux (Dual Boot)

Quick run down. Built a new system. Started by adding two 10,000rpm raptors in a RAID 0 config. Installed XP Pro. Everything went good. Bought a 3rd raptor and installed it in Primary SATA 0 on my ASUS A8N-SLI mobo.

Unable to load fixed fonts

Mach. was shut down bec. of a power outage and now when i try to reboot it won't boot into the gui but gives me a Unable ot load fixed fonts msg. Have been searching the net now for some 5 hrs. & still unable to find a solution.

Sorry to be a bore. . I realise that there a rather a lot of threads on this general topic, but my problem seems to be the opposite of everyone elses: I'm having problems with a dual boot with Fedora Core 4 and Windows XP.

I don't know how to install flashplayer on Mandrake Linux 10. 1 Nor do I know how to use the GNOME Terminal. Also I can't install programs from online. I download them but unlike windows i doesnt automatically open the installation software.
