hi i wanted to change to Sis drivers for red hat linux 9. its showing VESA type and memory 16 mb only. the screen resolution wont change from 800x600. igoogled and found that sis doesnt make drivers for linux.

I'm dual booting ubuntu and xp and using grub well I went to do a repair on windows and accidentally installed it a second time in the same partition (don't ask). so now I have a windows and a windows.

How to Remove Fedora 5 and install Windows XP

Hi, I am running Linux Fedora 5 right now. I want to completely delete Fedora 5 and install Windows Xp only. I am a newbie,so i could not proceed any further on this issue. Please let me know the steps for installing Windows XP and removing Fedora 5 completely.

hi (first post), I'm trying to set up a home file server running fc5 and am having alot of trouble getting grub into the correct place. Basically the machine as setup sees nothing in the mbr despite my attempts and never boots past bios.

The Openoffice macros are written in Star Basic language and MSOffice macros are written using Visula Basic for Applications. I have a Excel Macro file which has to run on linux. The following are the procedures I adapted and finally i was not able to make it.

I just wanted to pass along some information regarding the new XGL desktop, included with SUSE 10. 1 I've been playing with SUSE 10. 1 for a few weeks now and finally got the courage to try the XGL 3D desktop.

Fedora Core 5 install w/ 2 hard drives

Hi. I'm trying to make a dual boot system with Windows 2000 on hda and Fedora Core 5 on hdb. After reading several posts by danleff I've been able to get a system that can boot into either Windows or Linux depending on the bios.

Dual boot problem FC5 and WinXP on a single disk

Hello, I had a perfectly fine FC4 and WinXP dual boot configuration on a single disk on my toshiba laptop. I upgraded to FC5 using all default options and now windows wont boot at all!!! The ntfs partition is still there.

hi all i have winxp installed on my 80gb SATA. i installed redhat 9 on my 20gb PATA by NOT connecting SATA hdd to the cpu for some reasons. i installed grub on mbr. later i came to know that redhat 9 doesnt suppport sata so i cudnt get my linux to dual boot winxp.

I am a linux newbie. I just installed fedora core 5 on a dual boot system with windows xp. My monitor is a Dell 2405 24. I cannot get the screen resolution to 1920 x 1200. My video card is a MSI GeFore 6800.

Dual Boot FC5 and XP on same disk

Hi, I'm wondering if it is possible to install FC5 in an empty partition on a disk where also XP resides. I know FC5 uses GRUB to handle any multibooting but am not sure if this requires FC5 to be installed on a second disk.

Most anyone trying SUSE 10. 1 quickly became aware of update problems. Even YAST must be fixed and the best work-around is to use SMART package manager. You should download and install the SMART packages from GURU, as GURU has already added most of the necessary update channels for you.

I am running SUSE 10. 0 on an old Dell Dimension 4100. I am having trouble with a new sound card I purchased (Creative SoundBlaster SE), which are documented on the hardware forum. Any way, according to ALSA's website, one possible issue maybe the supplied version of ALSA with SUSE 10.

Simply Mepis and Thinkpad X30 question

I used to run mepis on my insprion 8000 fine with xp but every time I try to boot up the simply mepis cd it gets to a point where it says unable to start filesystem Halting, regardless of what boot choice i chose.
