Linux Newbie trying to enable 3com wifi card

So I've got a Sony PCG-SR17K that I refurbed and I'm giving Linux a try for the first time. I found with plenty of info from folk putting linux on this hardware. A trusty friend recommended Mandrake 10, so I've setup a dual boot with win 2k and Mandrake 10.

Wirelss breaks after a year of working perfectly

My wife has a Toshiba Satellite laptop that has happily connected to the Internet for over a year under Morphix-Gnome 4. 1 and Mepis RC4 using an Orinoco Gold card. We use a Linksys Wireless B router.

Hello I am serching for a chat program that works Peer-to-peer (that has no server) This program should also be available in Windows? Is there such a program? The reason why I am searching for this is because I am at a University and they don't like the chatting.

Heres my setup, Mandrake 10 official with the firewall installed, in the settings it says, allow the internet to connect to which services, i selected none. I dont have samba installed, i use the kernels built in samba client to see shared folders and computers over our home LAN.

Cannot get Netgear MA311 to work no matter what!

I've been trying for almost a week to get my Netgear MA311 wireless pci card to configure and become operational but NOTHING works! I bought this card because wvlan-linux said it used prism2 so I thought it wouldn't be that much trouble.

What does it mean when i can get a connection to my wireless router (blitzz bwa711. . . . not my choice. . . ) but i cant view websites? I can use Kopete and Gaim just fine, but the web just doesnt want to work.

USB pendrive with wireless from jetflash

Hi all! I have bought 256MB Jetflash pendrive. It comes with wireless 802. 11b, so u can have a pendrive and wireless with USB. But only works fine in windows. Linux only knows that is a pendrive, but doesn't see the wireless.

Cannot ping my Fedora Machine from Windows

I am new to fedora. I have a single Fedora machine in my windows network. I just want to use the internet service avaiable through my Wndows NT machine (Wingate Proxy Server running on it). I have tried giving just IP address of the wingate Proxy Server on my Fedora Machine in browser settings,but its not working.

Mandrake 9.2 DHCP problem

HI friends, I am using Windows XP and recently I installed Mandrake 9. 2 in my PC. I connect to internet via a router. In WinXP DHCP client is getting enabled automatically but in Mandrake linux what should I do / How I enable DHCP client so that an IP is assigned automatically by the router.
