Trying to Update Firefox in Mandrake Linux

I think I posted this one to the wrong forum, under Security, so will repost here. When I installed Mandrake 10. 1 PowerPack, through Software Package Installation in RPM Drake, I installed Firefox, which was included, but was an old pre-release version.

./configure problems

alright i finally got SuSE 9. 1 running smoothly, i downloaded the source of xchat, i untar'd it and when i try to run. /configure and it goes through trying to find a compiler it doesnt find any. error says no acceptable c compiler found in $PATH.

well after too many hours last nite of fooling around with different distro's i went back to mandrake and worked out my video glitch, well ive ran the updates and everything for my 10. 1 and i downloaded the source of xchat.

Hello everyone, I'm in the process of taking my Win ME box off-line and replacing it with FC2. Presently, I dial-up with my ME box, but knowing how bad that is, I've added another drive to the system and put FC2 on it.

know how to solve about monitor out of range? i only change the resolution to 1028x. . . then i log out of my account. the monitor shows, Input Signal out of range. I have all my projects in the com.

problem with playing .mpeg,.dat files in redhat 9

I have insatalled redhat 9(Shrike) its kernel version is 2. 4. 20-8, and it cannot play. mpeg,. dat files. i have installed XMMS for playing audio files but which software to use for video files. And how to install that.

Hi all I recently installed Simply Mepis 3. 3 and found out that it doesn't have amarok, probably the best equivalent of iTunes. I live in England so I found in the magazine Linux Format a version of amarok.

Need Help installing DSL or Puppy

I am trying to put one of these two operating systems on an old box it is a: HP Pavilion 7125 133Mz Pentium microprocessor 1. 5gig Harddrive 48Mb ram 6x cdrom I have the disks burned, and they boot on my machine with no problem.

java boxes a bit off..and what not

I have a prog that runs in java(scottrader) and well the prob is the drop down boxes are all black(so i can't see the writing) but when i look at it via windwos and what not it appears fine. . and i can't find anyway to change the color of the boxes in the prog itself, so what do i do? here is a ss of what i mean.

Hey I have been using (in windows) tortoisecvs which works very nice. I have putty set up and pageant where I've loaded my private key which the cvs server i connect to checks (so no password). So now I want to do something similar using linux, and I don't really know much about this.

Linux Mandrake 9.2 - Starting after first install

Ok well i installed it and now im at the localhost login screen. Can anybody tell me how i start KDE or well any help at all would be good. I have no documentation i just know i installed 8. 2 without a problem i liked it and so uninstalled that and windows and its at the login screen.

anyone know of a stock program that will allow me to use ScottTrade for the streaming data? I would prefer also if it had built in ability to retrieve news, and historical charts. . etc. . . Anyone? Oh i'd be happy to use other streaming data,but I do not want to pay=) Daum.

I am using the Ymesanger on fedora core! It gave me an Segmentation fault after which i am not able to use Ymessanger. I have also gaim iinstalled. I want both. I have removed all the dependencies. When i tried to install thru rh9.

Problem istalling new kernel

As many of you know I am new to linux. My OS is Fedora Core3. Today I downloaded up2date packages including the updated kernel 2. 6. 10-1. 766. I am currently running 2. 6. 9-1. 667. When the download was complete, it told me to reboot as soon as possible to test the new kernel, which I did, and did, and did.
