I can finally hope to put the wraps on this one. . . it happened to me already few times. Suspected the IBM 60 GXP at first, but then read the link on the front page @ Too bad I decided to format my C: in NTFS, leaving everything else as FAT32.

Decent webserver other than IIS

Palos
I'm looking for a decent webserver for home use. I intend to build a simple website and host it using some dynamic DNS service. I run XP Home, so I cannot install IIS 5. 1 that comes with XP Pro. . .

Let's talk about FAT64?

pmistry
FAT or FAT16 was the original File System, and used 16-bit numbers to calculate partition sizes and stuff. FAT32 came along to break the barriers by using 32-bit numbers. Isn't possible to use 64-bit numbering to drive partition sizes even higher and use low cluster sizes? Just a thought.

Be on the lookout for VX2

clutch
I got this in my myITforum newsletter, and Lactic is passing it around another forum. It also shows how to get rid of VX2, so you might want to check any systems you have control over. .

Maybe I'm wrong here...

Brian Frank
But I have some guy telling me that you can install 98 on an NTFS partition. Here's his solution: use the Win2k or XP disc to format the partition to NTFS then cancel the install. Install 98 as usual.

Things Computers Do in Movies

I got this in a weekend update from my newsletter. I added the last one, since it was something I always see in every TV show and movie. Things Computers Do in Movies Word processors never display a cursor.

I'm a sellout!!

sapiens74
I finally did it. Tonight when I am finished my Lian Li case will have a P4 sticker on it. I am so tired of incompatiblities that I'm swicthing sides. To top it all off I bought an audigy. No matter how superior a chip is, it;s the whole platform that you have to consider.

Scared the crap outta some skateboarders

Brian Frank
Where I work, some punk kids keep coming onto the property and skateboard around. We've told them not to, but these little pukes don't seem to get it. This past saturday (feb 2) one of the guys I work with got a bunch of names from some little squirts, so we know the punks who continue to come back.
