NTCompatible Pop Ups

Atreyu
I know everybody likes to make money, but I must say. . . the NTCompatible pop-ups are getting pretty darn annoying. It was nice to be able to come here and get what I need, and offer help to others, withoug corporate America plastered all over my desktop.

Anyone having problems accessing "www.google.com"

tuneS
I am having problems accessing www. google. com using IE 6 SP1 under WinXP PRo. I get some weird dutch website named De Standart Online. Last week, for instance, I was getting a different site. Is this related to the recent hacker attacks, or is this some marketing strategy related to MSN 8? Will Mozilla work?.

P133MHz & 128MB memory enough for a home router?

Ron_Jeremy
I thought about using this machine as a home router. There will be 3 pc's behind it; 2 surf the web quite frequently, & 1 will be a 24/7 Counter-Strike server. I thought about installing NT4 on it, but am tempted to use a Linux program found that runs off the floppy drive & doesn't even need a hard disk.

MicroSizers rock.

clutch
Just wanted to say that microsizers rock. I picked up the Mazda RX-7 (I am waiting for my red Mitsubishi Evolution to show up, so I got one on a different frequency) today and it's a ton of fun. Oh, and I am happy to report that it appears to be fully compatible with both Windows 2000 and Linux.

Multiple bootable partitions on CD-ROM?

Preacher
I´m currently working on a bootable recovery CD and have run across a few things I just can´t seem to figure out. The first OS on that CD is going to be DOS with the DOS part of Partition Magic 8. 0.

Free Software from MS

clutch
If you go here: you can sign up for surveys, and some of which give you various software packages to choose from. I just finished up one (almost an hour and a half!) and it gave me various client OSs, Applications, X-Box game combos, and some other stuff.

Wow! Netscape doesn't suck anymore

Brian Frank
That might've sounded a bit sarcastic, but so far, it's pretty good. I got Netscape 7. 0 downloaded to try out for the heck of it, as I've been having trouble on another message board-and it turned out to be IE6 for some reason.

Sometimes I wonder what people do at work. Everyone who posts their work computer in their sigs seems to have a P3 or P4 and here I am stuck with a PII233 at work. :-p.

multi booting

pbuckne
You've got questions, we've got answers, or the commercial goes. I have a (wait for it) Dell PII 266 with 256 Meg of RAM and (count 'em) 2 WD Caviar 2. 1 Gig harddrives. I have been playing with booting multiple operating systems off of it, and have succeeded in getting no more than two off the ground at a time.

NET USE Return Code?

Atreyu
I've written a VB app that occasionally maps drives. Anybody know of a way to capture the failure of executing the NET USE command so that I may present an error message to the end user? It's possible that mapping the drive will fail, as when the drive is mapped the user is prompted for their domain password.

Fear of formatting...

pmistry
Ok today at university I met this one guy who was having major issues with his computer, random BSOD's, lockups, freezes, crackling sound, I mean the works. Check this: His PC is a Pentium II 450 MHz with 256 MB of RAM and has like a 40 GB hard disk, the funny thing is that this machine initially was running Window ...
