The 4MLinux 45.0 series has been upgraded to the stable release, which includes a variety of features such as LibreOffice, GNOME Office, Firefox, Chrome, Thunderbird, Audacious, VLC, SMPlayer, Mesa, and Wine. New features include new printing drivers, improved video scaling support via FFmpeg and MPlayer, the addition of CHAMP Kong, Basilisk web browser, and a system-wide upgrade to OpenSSL version 3.





4MLinux 45.0 STABLE released.

The status of the 4MLinux 45.0 series has been changed to STABLE. Edit your documents with LibreOffice 24.2.1 and GNOME Office (AbiWord 3.0.5, GIMP 2.10.36, Gnumeric 1.12.56), surf the Internet with Firefox 123.0.1 and Chrome 122.0.6261.128, send emails via Thunderbird 115.8.1, enjoy your music collection with Audacious 4.3.1, watch your favorite videos with VLC 3.0.20 and SMPlayer 23.12.0, play games powered by Mesa 23.3.0 and Wine 9.2. You can also setup the 4MLinux LAMP Server (Linux 6.6.18, Apache 2.4.58, MariaDB 10.6.16, and PHP 8.2.16). Perl 5.38.2, Python 2.7.18, Python 3.11.6, and Ruby 3.2.2 are also available.

As always, the new major release has some new features. Lots of new printing drivers have been added. FFmpeg in 4MLinux now offers improved support for video scaling (resizing) via zimg library. Additionally, FFmpeg and MPlayer make us of Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural DSP effect library (libbs2b) for better handling of stereo audio. Classic CHAMP Kong game has been added to the 4MLinux DOSBox package. Basilisk web browser is now available a downloadable extension. And finally, OpenSSL in 4MLinux has been system-wide upgraded to its version 3.
