Silicon Republic reports that Google's next version of Android, Android 2.4 (Ice Cream), is rumoured to be getting a summer 2011 release.

According to Pocket-lint, sources have said Android 2.4 will be released around June or July, in time for its announcement at Google's IO conference at the start of May.

The six-month gap for the update of Android would coincide with Google's timeline for the mobile OS, saying it would focus on two major upgrades a year.
