A sphinxsearch security update has been released for Debian GNU/Linux 9 LTS to address an issue which allows arbitrary files to be read by abusing a configuration option.

It was discovered that sphinxsearch, a fast standalone full-text SQL
search engine, could allow arbitrary files to be read by abusing a
configuration option.
For Debian 9 stretch, this problem has been fixed in version
2.2.11-1.1+deb9u1.
We recommend that you upgrade your sphinxsearch packages.
