A batik security update has been released for Debian GNU/Linux 8 and 9 Extended LTS to address an issue where attackers were able to run arbitrary Java code when processing a malicious SVG file.

It was discovered that Apache Batik, an SVG library for Java, allowed attackers to run arbitrary Java code when processing a malicious SVG file.

For Debian 8 jessie, these problems have been fixed in version 1.7+dfsg-5+deb8u3.

For Debian 9 stretch, these problems have been fixed in version 1.8-4+deb9u3.

We recommend that you upgrade your batik packages.
