GNOME 2.15.4 Development Release has been released
This is our fourth development release on our road towards GNOME 2.16.0, which will be released in September 2006. GNOME 2.15.4 has some rough edges but you should definitely try it to see how well it works.
One big noticable change is the gnome-vfs change:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/devel-announce-list/2006-July/msg00001.html
Some programs may crash at launch because of critical warnings. See for example:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=346980
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347460
To avoid those crashes, you can change the G_DEBUG environment variable. For example, you can run evolution with this command line:
$ G_DEBUG= evolution
Go download it. Go compile it. Go test it. And go hack on it, document it, translate it, fix it.
To compile GNOME 2.15.4, you can use GARNOME, or the jhbuild modulesets available at:
http://www.gnome.org/projects/garnome/

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
--------------------------
This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is buildable and usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking purposes. GNOME uses odd minor version numbers to indicate development status.
