GNOME 3620 Published by

GNOME 2.20.0 Beta 1 has been released. Here the release announcement:

This is our seventh development release on our road towards GNOME 2.20.0, which will be released in September 2007. New features are still arriving, so your mission is simple : Go download it. Go compile it. Go test it. And go hack on it, document it, translate it, fix it.

Lots of modules have great plans for 2.19, and if you're willing to help there are many areas where that help is welcome! Don't hesitate to ask how or where you can help. If you don't even know where to start, just send a mail to our fantastic gnome-love mailing list.

To compile GNOME 2.19.90, you can use GARNOME (http://www.gnome.org/projects/garnome/, which supports users and has additional/different modules available), or the jhbuild (http://www.gnome.org/~jamesh/jhbuild.html) modulesets (which use the exact tarball versions from the official release) available at: http://download.gnome.org/teams/releng/2.19.90/

The release notes that describe the changes between 2.19.6 and 2.19.90 are available. Go read them to learn all the goodness of this release:

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
--------------------------

This release is a snapshot of development code. Although it is buildable and usable, it is primarily intended for testing and hacking purposes. GNOME uses odd minor version numbers to indicate development status.

For more informations about 2.19, the full schedule, the official module lists and the proposed modules list, please see our 2.19 page: http://www.gnome.org/start/unstable/
or take a look at the abbreviated schedule reminder page at http://live.gnome.org/Schedule

We hope you'll love it,

GARNOME 2.19.90 (aka 2.20.0 Beta 1)
==============

The "I can feel it coming in the air tonight" release.

We are pleased to announce the release of GARNOME 2.19.90 Desktop and Developer Platform. This release includes all of GNOME 2.19.90 plus a bunch of updates that were released after the GNOME freeze date.

This is the seventh release in the unstable cycle, with more features, more fixes and yet more madness added. It is for anyone who wants to get his hands dirty on the development branch, or who'd like to get a peek at future features.

With this release, GNOME entered UI Freeze for 2.20, which is due September 19.

As usual, you can get the tarball directly from the gnome.org site:
http://download.gnome.org/sources/garnome/2.19/

Note: GNOME 2.19.x is an unstable branch and is assumed to be a moving target. Therefore, things in this release may not work as advertised.

If you find any issues with this release, feel free to contact the GARNOMEies in the #garnome channel on GIMPNet (irc://irc.gnome.org), where we hang out, or post to the mailing list.

More information is available at our project website:
