Scribus 1.6.4 has been released, focused on bug fixes and featuring several updates, such as the elimination of custom font encodings, resolution of PDF import and export problems, and rectification of compilation issues. The build system has undergone an update, and enhancements to scripting have been implemented. The localization system has received updates. Scribus 1.7.x represents the latest unstable series, with the majority of development efforts directed towards features in 1.7.x and enhancements based on Qt6. Future 1.6.x releases will revise the documentation, and the team recommends a transition to 1.6.x for Linux and *BSD distributions.



Scribus 1.6.4 Released

The Scribus Team is pleased to announce the release of version 1.6.4. This is a bugfix release with the following changes.

Changes

General

  • Avoid custom font encodings when embedding TTF fonts in PDFs.
  • Fixes to PDF import and export, and checkbox rendering on MS Edge.
  • Fixes for PDF/X-4 export when attempting to use ICC profile unsuitable for output.
  • Fixes some images being incorrectly imported as black when importing PDF.

Build System

  • Addressed compilation issues when building against newer versions of poppler.

Scripting Enhancements

  • Added new Python functions for page sizing, bounding boxes for page items, min/max word kerning and a fix to locked layer detection.

Localisation Updates

  • Updated translation files
