A security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:

- Ubuntu 22.10
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro)
- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro)

Summary:

Several security issues were fixed in SciPy.

Software Description:
- scipy: scientific library for Python - documentation

Details:

It was discovered that SciPy did not properly manage memory operations
during reference counting. An attacker could possibly use this issue to
cause a denial of service. (CVE-2023-25399)

A use-after-free was discovered in SciPy when handling reference counts. An
attacker could possibly use this to cause a denial of service. This issue
only affected Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. (CVE-2023-29824)

Update instructions:

The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
package versions:

Ubuntu 22.10:
python3-scipy 1.8.1-10ubuntu0.22.10.1

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro):
python3-scipy 1.8.0-1exp2ubuntu1+esm1

Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Available with Ubuntu Pro):
python3-scipy 1.3.3-3ubuntu0.1~esm1

In general, a standard system update will make all the necessary changes.
